Ilva Taranto represents 75% of Taranto Province gross domestic product, according to the Bank of Italy, and 76% of city port handling, according to Port Authorities. These data show clearly the importance of Ilva Works for economy and occupational demand in Taranto Province, Puglia region and the nation.
Ilva is owned by Riva Group which has got:
- 23 thousand employees;
- 42 production works in 8 countries all over the world;
- a turnover of about 11 billion euros.
Contracting people and companies are an important source to the steelworks. Riva Group considers the territory as a key element. Apart from Ilva’s employees, thousands of contractors work on site.
